Louis Philippe Fruitwood Partner’s Desk with Original Leather Top
Reference #: 0621-M61

This desk is a bit of an enigma. Purchased in Alsace, the region of France that borders Germany and Switzerland, it has both French and German design elements. The mother-of-pearl keyholes are absolutely European, and the overall sensibility of the piece is German, but it is of the Louis Philippe time period. We are therefore unsure if it is of German or French origin. The honey blond fruitwood is in nice antique condition, and the leather, while appropriately distressed, also retains its elegance. This is a desk built for two, with one deep drawer and a false drawer front on either side, so that each partner gets half the desk in drawer space. Good apron height of 24.5 inches. A unique and fascinating antique piece.
