A decorative walnut Tumbridgeware jewelry box with vibrant blue silk interior. Tumbridgeware being characterized as a form of decoratively inlaid woodwork, typically in the form of boxes, that is characteristic of Tumbridge and the spa town of Royal Tumbridge Wells in Kent in the 18th and 19th centuries. This one dates from circa 1870, and has good inlay, especially the hexagonal mother-of-pearl motif around the keyhole. There is no key. Useful divided tray inside.
